TPN Presents: The Crisis in Test Leadership and How to Address it
IITP Test Professionals Network Presents:
Matthew Mansell - The Crisis in Test Leadership and How to Address it
When was the last time you saw a new idea about how to develop IT systems come from the testing community? And when was the last time testing changed the way others in the IT industry did their work?
The short answer is never. We are good at reacting and responding to change, but never are initiators of it. This isn't just a problem at an industry level. How often is testing on projects compromised despite the protestations of the Test Manager and their team? All the time. How often is the work we do dismissed as being something anyone could do, or a necessary evil that projects must bear? All the time.
Testing is maturing as a profession, our discipline in how we go about our work is improving, the quality of what we do is increasing, the value of what we do is growing. And yet we are often silent and silenced on projects. Why? Because we do not know how to lead. We manage, but we do not lead.
In this presentation we will discuss the silencing of the voice of testing and what we might be able to do about it. In order to lead and innovate we need to understand the unique perspective we can bring to the IT development industry. Once we have understood that we can look at how we can lead from wherever we are, and how we can develop leaders in our industry.
Come along to hear the presentation and join in the discussion.
The presentation will be followed by a networking session with drinks and nibbles provided by TPN.
About The Speaker
